A Love Letter to Chicago

Really amazing pics you got here. I enjoyed them very much. It's a mood in these pics, you can't find moods in digital pics ;)

Love, A.

The "combination art deco and Middle Eastern gothic" building you got some shots of there is one of my favorite structures here in Chicago -- the former Medinah Temple (now partiallly Bloomingdale's Furniture Store or something like that). I work in RL right down the street from it and pass by it every day. It used to be a gigantic auditorium that, I believe, encompassed the entire block. When I was a kid, my parents used to take me there to see The Ringling Bros. Circus. If you think the facade was amazing, you should've seen the interior back when it was still an auditorium. It's a horrible shame what Bloomingdales did to the inside of this place. Suburban mall-ified, unfortunately. It used to be this grand, arabesque and exotic open auditorium space with balconies everywhere. However, not a week goes by when I think about how I'd love to recreate this thing in SL someday. The original version without the furniture store, of course. :-)

Here's a link for you about Medina Temple if you're interested:

Jean Russell took me to the Green Mill in Chicago for a great songstress, Patricia Barber....amazing. It all reminded me of you and your gorgeous gothic photos.

Next time you're in my neck of the woods, holler and I will take you for lunch if you like. Chicago is certainly a great town for getting photos. Of all the places I've been, I still love it the most.

The tin man is absolutely a tradition. :) I have a few street performers that I really love, as well as a blind man who usually sits in the tunnel between the red and blue lines at washington, that I used to bring chocolate and a few bucks to nearly every night after work.

Lovely photos!
