>>> Extending real life community capacity building into Second Life virally through a set of Better World kiosks that can be set up in virtual shops, event venues and public places. <<<
This account is for my Second Life (secondlife.com), where I am a content creator (piano craftsman, composer, digital architect) and scripter. Sue Stonebender is the name of my avatar within the Second Life community (serendipitysue.com), though my real name is indeed Sue.
Much of my "first life" bleeds into the second, the former being driven by real world community capacity building, social justice and advocacy for kids at risk. I am a national journalist in Canada, and community technology strategist globally. Africa is at the core of much of my outreach, including a focus on finding innovative ways of applying technology to empower women and children. My current efforts focus is on combating the effects of extreme poverty (hunger, disease due to a lack of potable water and vaccines, child trafficking, AIDs) through technology-empowered innovations; child soliders; empowering children to change the course of AIDS through programs like Grassroot soccer; women's empowerment groups (such as Marcia Odell's WORTH program and Christina Jordan's LiA program); and also in working with young teachers to reclaim and rebuild schools and education in Darfur, Sudan.
To learn more about the things I'm passionate about, there are a few "Videos" tab beneath my pic over here --> http://www.myspace.com/suestonebender . I've included a few directly below the "My Favourites" link to make it easier to connect with what I find important ...
